Judy Tuck's
interest in Bassets had a rather dubious start, resulting from
the purchase of a pet bitch, "Snoopy", by Judy's
husband Doug. It is safe to say that she thought this
young pup to be something less than good looking! Though
as Bassets do, she "grew on her". In
retrospect, she blames the start of her current-day obsession
with the breed on Doug.
In the early
1970's, in Limestone, Maine, Judy's interest in breeding and
showing dogs grew as well. She started selectively breeding
Snoopy's daughter and grand-daughter and showing in Canada
in 1973 and 1974. In 1976 Doug got out of the Air Force
and they moved down to Bowdoinham, Maine where her Cloverhill
Kennel was established and where they still reside.
